The Steamboat Soccer Club is the second-largest youth sports program in the Yampa Valley, serving over 1000 athletes each year. No player is ever turned away from our program. With free shoes and jerseys on rotation, sponsorships, and scholarships, SSC will always find a way to serve an athlete wishing to participate in soccer.

TOKEN TUESDAY

As a token of Mountain Tap’s appreciation for all that the nonprofit organizations do in our community.

Steamboat Soccer Club has been selected as one of the four local nonprofit organizations to support during September. On Token Tuesday, each guest receives a wooden token for every beer they purchase. Before leaving Mountain Tap Brewery, you can drop your tokens in SSC's Token Tuesday box.

At the end of the month, Mountain Tap Brewery empties the boxes, adds up the tokens for each organization, and presents each one with $1 for every token they received. Whichever organization collects the most tokens throughout the month is dubbed “King of the Mountain Tap” and gets to stay on as a beneficiary for one more month.

Please make sure you get over to Mountain Tap during September on Token Tuesdays to support the Club.

The Challenges

Field Expenses & Not Owning Our Own Fields

  • High rental costs
  • Limited control over scheduling
  • Availability: Snow on fields most of the Spring Season
  • Condition of fields: not always maintained properly
  • Lack of long-term planning: Long-term infrastructure

Indoor

Facility Shortages

  • Limited availability & High rental costs.
  • High demand: Indoor facilities are in high demand during the winter in Steamboat.
  • Space limitations
  • Overcrowded schedules & optimal times for practice and games.

Lack

of

Referees

  • Resulting in only one referee for some competitive games.

Volunteer Coaches with Recreational Programs

  • This results in team sizes being too large at younger ages, which means fewer touches on the ball.
  • Coaches needed for our Craig Recreational Program
