Steamboat Soccer Club
Supporting players to reach their full potential in life.
SSA does NOT have a residential camper option. We do offer a Day Camper Plus option, which allows families to drop their players off in the morning of each day of the camp and pick them up at the end of the day. For Day Camper Plus campers, we will take care of food and transportation during the day, ensuring campers get the most out of their participation in the Academy, but parents/guardians still need to drop off and pick up their players each day.

SSA uses fields in the Steamboat area including Emerald Fields, Ski Town Fields, and Memorial Fields for daily training.
Check-in will be announced to registrants via email one week before camp. Complete schedules and locations will be emailed to registered participants the week before camp. In general, check-in begins around 2PM on Day 1, and check-out takes place after the last session on Day 4, around 12Noon. If there are any changes to this, campers will be notified via email by the camp director before the start of camp.
Check-out will be at your player's assigned field.
Check out this Complete Sample Camp Schedule. Final official schedules will be sent to registered campers by email in their camper packet and available for download online the week before your camp.
Yes. Our goalkeeper participants will train with our goalkeeper coaches in specific cutting-edge GK training sessions. All goalkeepers will also be integrated with the field players for match games and small-sided competitions. GK trainers/coaches will work with all goalkeepers during these games on proper warm-ups and game evaluations. GKs receive some field training, however, the majority of their time is spent working on goalkeeping skills. We have had players join us for one 4-day camp with GK training and one 4-day camp with field training to stay well-rounded.
All players are placed in groups based on their session, age, and gender when they first arrive at camp. For the younger players (ages 9-13), the boys train with boys and the girls train with girls. For certain high school-aged sessions (ages 14-19), we offer limited co-ed tactical training sessions.
Steamboat Soccer Academy will offer the best learning environment possible in an awesome mountain location with the best staff available. The learning experience at a collegiate camp will not be as dynamic and diverse as it is at Steamboat Soccer Academy. Collegiate camps will be taught by the coaches from that university and with that university's players. This may mean only one style of play is being taught. If you want to be noticed by that particular coach, then going to their collegiate camp will give you direct exposure to him/her, their playing and coaching methods, and the opportunity to experience the campus life at that particular institution.
SSA has been running since 1994, only skipping one year in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Local Airport code is HDN (Hayden/Steamboat) and shuttles to Steamboat from the airport (20 minutes) are available from Steamboat Taxi. Families can also plan to drive from Denver International Airport via a rental car, about a 3-hour drive, or Steamboat Taxi offers twice-a-day shuttles to Steamboat (a 4-hour shuttle ride).
Changes are allowed if there is room available in the session you are hoping to transfer into. There is a $35 administration fee to move campers from one session to another. If you purchased SSA Cancelation Insurance, this $35 fee is waived. If you upgrade to more sessions or a more costly session (Day Camper to Day Camper Plus) no extra fees will be charged.
WHAT IS CANCELLATION INSURANCE, AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
If purchased as part of your registration, Cancellation Insurance will provide you a full refund of the registration fee if your player(s) cannot participate for any reason such as health, injury, etc. For any registrations that are cancelled more than 30 days from the start of the camp, there will be a 20% administrative fee withheld prior to any monies being refunded. If a cancellation occurs within 30 days of the start of camp, you will be provided with a camp credit that can be applied at any time in the next two years from your cancellation date.
Absolutely, just register for each Performance Session you would like to attend. Bonus, you get an extra t-shirt with each registration!
The short answer is No, but it's not ideal. As camp gets closer, please communicate with us who may need to check in late. We highly recommend attending all the early sessions if at all possible, as this helps the players acclimate to their groups and coaches, and for coaches to assess players' abilities for their group.
Players will have access to whichever electronics you provide them, but we do ask that they limit their use. There will be more on that in your check-in packet when we get closer to camp. On the pitch and during sessions, electronics, watches, and jewelry are not allowed, as they are not safe, and are also against the laws of the game.
Yes. We have a dedicated trainer available each day and will work with all of the campers if they are needed.
