Competitive

U11-U19

Boys & Girls

The Competitive Program is designed for players interested in playing at a higher level of competition and under the guidance of a paid coach.  Games are played in a home/away format with opponents in Colorado and Wyoming.

In the Competitive Program, families are expected to travel to the Denver area or mountain towns for away games. Home games will be played at Emerald Fields.

There is a mandatory player placement process for all competitive players which is held annually at the end of May. Your child will be placed by development level and can move from one team to another based on development throughout the year.

At the competitive level, playing time is shared, but it is not equal. Playing time is at the coach's discretion and takes into consideration absenteeism, tardiness, or general behavioral issues, in addition to the skill of the player, the quality of the opponent, and the competition.

For questions or more information regarding our Competitive programs please email our Technical Director, Hobey Early, at techdir@steamboat-soccer.com

Player Commitment

&

Attendance Policy

  • Players are expected to commit to the full season(s) and make every effort to attend all training sessions and games.
  • All home and away games must be played by the team. If a team is unable to field a full roster for a scheduled game, they must reschedule within the designated season window.
  • SSC does not support or accept forfeits. Any forfeit fees incurred will be the responsibility of the team.

League

Placement & Divisions

  • Each competitive team is placed in Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) league divisions based on their roster level and ability.
  • Premier-level divisions require state association approval for placement and movement.
  • Advanced League divisions are primarily determined by the club, with promotion and relegation standards set by the state association.

Uniform

&

Practice

Jersey

  • Players are required to wear the proper Nike kit for training sessions and games.
  • This ensures uniformity, professionalism, and adherence to club standards.
  • Our uniforms are ordered through We Got Soccer. We purchase new uniforms on a 2-year cycle under our Nike contract.

Playing

Time

  • At the Competitive level, playing time is not equal—it is earned.
  • Playing time is at the coach’s discretion and is based on several factors, including:
  • Attendance and punctuality at training and games
  • Effort, attitude, and overall behavior
  • Player skill level and game performance
  • Strength of the opponent and competitive needs of the match

  • Work deposits are due at Player Placements and will be held, not deposited, unless the family chooses not to fulfill their volunteer requirement.
  • Each family is required to volunteer 4 hours per player to have their deposit returned.
  • Sign up for Volunteer hours in the Playmetrics App.
